The browser you use and its version can impact your web experiences opening pages or accessing WPI applications.
If a preferred browser is indicated for the application you are using, open there. If the page or application you are trying to open is unresponsive or produces an error, close the browser and try a different one. Periodically clearing the browser data (cache, cookies, etc.) can also improve computer performance by freeing up hard disk space and computing power while browsing the web. This can usually be done in the browser Settings.
WPI Information Technology (IT) now installs Chrome for Business as the default browser for Windows 10. Other browsers, such a Firefox, are also available.
IT does not recommend using Internet Explorer (IE). Microsoft support for IE is limited in Windows 10, and WPI applications function in other browsers. Version updating is critical for security and varies by browser.
Chrome for Business self-updates; Edge is automatically updated in Windows maintenance performed monthly by IT. Within other browsers, visit About for the version and update information.
