Why?

Information Technology is installing the JAMF software, NoMAD. It allows usage of WPI credentials to sign-in to a Mac even when not joined to the WPI domain.

There will be a new login screen with the WPI logo.

Details

WPI IT-managed Macs  will have NoMAD, a JAMF software, installed. It allows usage of WPI credentials to sign-in to a Mac even when not joined to the WPI domain. The benefits of this change include: 

  1. Password changes will no longer corrupt the system and login keychains which hold saved website passwords and configurations. The new and easier process will result in less loss of time, productivity and data.
  2. If the Mac is used outside of the WPI domain for an extended period of time, WPI accounts will still be able to log in to the machines. Changed passwords will synchronize once the computer is either on campus or connected via the Virtual Private Network (VPN). 
  3. Any local accounts created for research groups will still be able to log in to the machines on which they were created.
